Upcoming webinar: “Using CFD to improve industrial equipment design”
DRG is hosting a free webinar on how to use Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) methods to improve industrial equipment design on December 6, 2017 – 4 pm CEST.
Most designs of industrial equipment are based on years of experience and analytical solutions for simplified problems. In order to improve the designs even further it is often required to use modern CFD techniques to study the flow field or relevant performance indicators.
This webinar introduces the concept of Computational Fluid Dynamics in combination with the capabilities, advantages and its drawbacks. The benefits of CFD for optimizing industrial equipment are illustrated using realistic examples. In addition, the CFD workflow is described in detail for a typical project by applying the software HELYX CFD (based on OpenFOAM) to show that CFD does not have to be complicated. Recent developments made it possible to apply full CFD methods on a desktop PC without the assumptions made in simplified engineering CFD plugins that are present in other CAD packages.
