DRG hosting the ISO/TC 138/SC 6 and WG’s meetings

Zoetermeer, 17, 18 and 19 September

DRG is hosting the 3-day ISO/TC 138/SC 6 and WG’s meetings this week. This technical committee TC 138 develops standards for plastics pipes, fittings and valves for the transport of fluids. Standardization of pipes, fittings, valves and auxiliary equipments intended for the transport of fluids and made from all types of (reinforced ) plastic materials. Metal fittings used with plastics pipes are also included. This standardization includes – for pipes, flanges, fittings, valves and auxiliary equipments – dimensions and their tolerances; requirements for chemical, mechanical and physical properties and appropriate test methods; requirements and test methods for other properties relevant to particular applications; temperature and pressure ratings. The members of the committee come together a few times a year in the various work groups to develop the standardization documents.

The TC 138 committee is divided in several sub committees such as SC 6 and work groups as WG 5. SC6 develops standards for reinforced plastics pipes and fittings for all applications for example glass-reinforced thermosetting plastics (GRP). The experts that are a member of this committee work in the field as either a manufacturer, a consultant or an end user. DRG is represented in some of these standardization committee’s for many years. DRG provides expertise on Glass Reinforced Plastic materials as well as general mechanical engineering knowledge. DRG has been involved in R&D of many different Fiberglass applications for various suppliers, users and research institutes. Being a part of these committee’s allows DRG to be up-to-date with the latest developments in the field. For this DRG is often consulted by many of the major fiberglass suppliers or users as an independent consultant for support in many FRP related topics.
