BOSfluids 8.1 Extension of special flow elements

BOSfluids 8.1 improves and extends various types of special flow elements and their user interface. The Tank element has been extended with support for specifying an optional liquid surface pressure and a nozzle height. The former enables you to model pressurized tanks, while the latter enables you to specify the position of the inlet/outlet nozzle relative to the bottom of the tank.

The Tube Rupture element has been extended with support for the Joule-Thomson effect. If the tube-side fluid is a single-phase gas, then the Joule-Thomson coefficient provided by the gas Equation of State is used to determine the temperature of the gas as it exists the rupture. This can have a significant effect on the density of the gas and therefore on the maximum pressure in the heat exchanger shell.

The Valve Configuration Window has been extended with support for selecting valves with an
equal percentage and quick opening flow characteristic.
