The pump model and its user interface have been improved and extended considerably in this new BOSfluids release. When defining a pump element, you can specify one of the following five operating modes:
- Fixed Flow for pump sizing analyses;
- Fixed Speed for pumps running at a fixed speed;
- Variable Speed for setting the pump speed as a function of time;
- Controlled for using a control system to determine the operating speed;
- and Startup to simulate the startup of a pump. The latter requires the specification of a motor torque curve and an efficiency curve.

The pump element now also supports the specification of a Net Positive Suction Head Required
(NPSHR) curve. A warning is issued if the Net Positive Suction Head Available (NPSHA) drops
below the NPSHR during a flow analysis. The NPSHA is also available as a new data set.

The pump-related section in the steady state solution report has been extended with information
about the NPSHA and the hydraulic power delivered by a pump. The Pump plot type has been
improved so that it now shows the pump curve associated with the operating point in addition
to the user-specified pump curves.
