BOSfluids 8.1 supports the specification of mass flow boundary conditions in addition to volumetric flow boundary conditions. This can be particularly useful when the density of the fluid is not known beforehand at the location where the flow is to be prescribed.
The components database has been extended with support for storing so-called templates. This enables you to store a collection of elements and nodes and then re-use them in the same or different piping models.

The control system framework has been extended with support for connecting controllers to flow boundary conditions. This makes it possible to adjust an imposed pressure or flow rate by means of a control rule, enabling you to model external systems and equipment such as positive displacement pumps.
When you perform a combined flow and structural analyses using the structural solver interface, BOSfluids can now show the forces and moments acting on restraints.

The collection of standard reports has been extended with two new reports listing transient events that depend on the flow conditions, such as the closing of a check valve. The reports are named “Events by Element” and “Events by Time”. The former shows the events sorted by element, while the latter shows the events sorted by time.
