BOSfluids 8.1 comes with new support for specifying element-related limits that are to be compared with the calculated results for that element. Any violated limit will be displayed in the new standard “Limit Alerts” report. The limits and the margins between the limits and the calculated results are also available as additional data sets. Currently limits can be specified for pipe elements, deluge nozzles and sprinklers. Limits can be specified for the pressure, flow rate and flow velocity.

Each limit has a type, a name and a limit value. The type indicates to which data set the limit is to be applied and whether the limit represents a lower or upper bound. The name of the limit is used to identify the limit in the “Limit Alerts” report, and to generate the names of related data sets. Note that it is perfectly fine to use the same limit name for different elements, as long as those limits are of the same type. Also note that you can specify multiple limits of the same type for a single element, as long as those limits have different names and limit values.
