BOSfluids 8.0 Other Improvements

This new BOSfluids release brings a new flow boundary condition type Initial Flow. This acts as a Fixed Flow boundary condition in a steady state analysis and as a Fixed Pressure boundary condition in a subsequent transient analysis. You can apply this new boundary condition type when an initial flow rate is known but a fixed pressure boundary condition is to be applied during a transient analysis.

Hydraulic engineers can make use of additional pressure data sets, including the (hydraulic) head and static pressure. These data sets can provide useful information when performing analyses of water distribution networks and sewage systems.

Elements of type Pipe, Pipe Line, Deluge Nozzle and Sprinkler have been extended with new fields for specifying a minimum/maximum pressure and/or flow rate. If one or more of these fields are specified, then the Relative Pressure and/or Relative Flow Rate data sets indicate whether the actual pressure or flow rate exceeds the specified limits. This enables you, among others, to assess whether pressure surges exceed the design or operating pressure limits associated with the pipes in the system.

The already excellent Piping Component File (PCF) interface has been improved further with support for generating element groups based on specific PCF identifiers, including the SKEY and ITEM-CODE identifiers. Using this new feature you can more efficiently edit the properties of special flow elements, like valves, after importing the PCFs.
