BOSfluids 8.0 Extension of special Flow Elements
DRG » Knowledge Base Articles » BOSfluids 8.0 Extension of special Flow Elements
BOSfluids 8.0 brings extensions of and improvements to some of its special flow element types. The Surge Vessel element type has a new field that determines how the initial gas conditions are to be calculated. It also has new fields for specifying the installation temperature and the maximum gas volume. These extensions make the Surge Vessel element easier to use and make it possible to model more types of surge vessels.

The Air Valve element now supports the specification of an air flow rate curve and an outlet opening curve. The former makes it possible to model air valves for which the manufacturer provides a flow rate curve instead of inlet/outlet orifice properties. The latter makes it possible to model non-instantaneous closing mechanisms, as commonly present in triple-function air valves.
Finally, the Sprinkler and Deluge Nozzle elements have been extended with a new field for specifying the nozzle pressure loss. You can now specify either a discharge coefficient and nozzle diameter, or a K-Factor. Information about the latter tends to be better available than information about the former.
