BOSfluids 8.0 Addition of a PIPENET File Import Interface
DRG » Knowledge Base Articles » BOSfluids 8.0 Addition of a PIPENET File Import Interface
A new file import interface in BOSfluids 8.0 enables you to import PIPENET model files. This can save you a lot of effort and reduce the scope for errors when modeling a piping system that has previously been modeled in the PIPENET flow analysis application. The PIPENET file interface can import files that have been created with the Standard, Spray and Transient PIPENET modules. Although it does not cover all PIPENET features, it supports a wide range of specifications (boundary conditions) and flow elements, including pipes (and their associated minor losses), various types of valves, nozzles (sprinklers) and pumps.

A PIPENET model file may not contain all relevant model parameters as some of those parameters are defined in (built-in) libraries that are not always available when importing the PIPENET model. This means that BOSfluids has to make some assumptions and apply some transformations in order to obtain a piping model that meets the requirements imposed by the BOSfluids application data model. Nevertheless, the PIPENET import interface will automate the bulk of the translation work so that you can focus on the flow analyses that you want to perform.
