Oil & Gas - Onshore Processing

Onshore processing plants concentrate their piping risk in a small number of repeatable places: long liquid lines behind a tripping pump, fast-acting valves on loading and transfer systems, reciprocating compressors running away from their original design case, pressure reducing stations discharging into headers, and small bore connections on lines that now carry higher rates than the original basis. Each mechanism ends in the same place, which is cyclic stress, lost availability and a system operating outside its code.

Dynaflow analyses these mechanisms directly. As independent consultants we work for owners, operators, EPC contractors, licensors and equipment suppliers, and report results against the applicable code.

ANALYSIS DISCIPLINES

ONSHORE SOLUTIONS

Gas Processing Services

Pulsation studies for compressor systems

Acoustic and mechanical response analysis of reciprocating compressor systems, covering damper sizing, orifice selection and the support scheme required to hold shaking forces and cyclic stress inside acceptance limits.

Flow induced vibration in two-phase lines

Assessment of flow induced excitation in two-phase and high velocity lines, combining on-site measurement, modal analysis and dynamic pipe stress calculation to identify the load path before a modification is specified.

Acoustically induced vibration assessment

Screening and detailed assessment of pressure reducing valves, relief systems and high velocity gas lines, ranking lines by likelihood of failure and resolving the branch and small bore geometry where AIV failures start.

Dynamic pipe stress analysis

Static and dynamic stress analysis for thermal, sustained and occasional load cases, including flange leakage checks and verification of equipment nozzle loads against the manufacturer’s limits.

ONSHORE SOLUTIONS

Terminal, storage and loading services

Surge analysis for loading and transfer systems

Transient analysis of jetty, truck and rail loading systems and of tank transfer lines, identifying surge pressures from valve closure and pump trip and specifying the control measures that keep the system within design pressure.

Pipeline and network hydraulic analysis

Steady state and transient hydraulic analysis of transfer networks to identify pressure drops, flow restrictions and capacity limits, with calculated results supporting operational and design decisions.

Firewater and deluge system analysis

Hydraulic and transient analysis of firewater ring mains, deluge and foam systems, verifying delivered pressure and flow at the required nozzles and assessing the surge generated on activation.

Tank and jetty piping stress analysis

Stress analysis of tank connected and jetty piping, including settlement, thermal movement and nozzle load verification on tanks and loading arms.

ONSHORE SOLUTIONS

Petrochemical and fertiliser services

Surge and waterhammer analysis

Transient analysis of pump trip, valve closure, check valve behaviour and column separation in process, cooling water and firewater systems, with surge protection specified where allowable pressures are exceeded.

Vibration analysis and fatigue assessment

Identification and mitigation of vibration-induced fatigue in pumps, compressors and connected piping, with a modification set that can be executed inside a turnaround window.

Pulsation studies for reciprocating pumps

Pulsation and mechanical response analysis of reciprocating pump systems, reducing pulsation-induced vibration and the associated fatigue loading on piping, supports and equipment.

GRE and GRP piping analysis

Design review and stress analysis of fibreglass systems in cooling water, seawater and produced water service, including support spacing and the interaction between composite and metallic sections.
